The Cat Master - review by Karen

The Cat Master is a great book. It is seen through the eyes of 6 cats, 3 dogs, 2 birds, a lizard, a possum, and 2 humans. Every chapter takes you into a new animal's mind.
It also has different types of cats and dogs. There are indoors which live inside and are taken care of by humans, and there are Ferals who live outdoors, hunt for their food, and are meaner. In this book, the meanest Feral's name is Jett, a big gray cat with only one eye. He does not like Buddy, a cat he knocked into a dumpster where a family found him and took him home. Buddy lived with the family for one year with two younger cats, Zekki and Pris. One day they escape, though and Zekki and Pris follow Jett, who meets up with his friend Soot. Buddy meets a dog who helps him, but then gets lost and meets a pretty siamese cat he had seen at the vet.

Karen's first review

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Harry Potter lived in the Dursley's house with his rude, hateful, and mean cousin, aunt, and uncle. Until one day, a half-giant (Hagrid) came and told him he was a wizard, then took him to THE magic street that only wizards could see, Diagon Alley, to buy supplies for Harry's first year at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Before Hagrid told him, Harry did not know he was a wizard, and more importantly, the only one ever to survive the killing curse. When he got to Hogwarts, he gets placed in one of the four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. He also meets two friends named Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Harry soon discovers Quidditch, a sport where people fly on broomsticks and make goals through hoops. He is made Seeker for his team. Seekers catch a little golden ball, earns the team 150 points, and ends the game. On Halloween night though, things start to get dangerous at Hogwarts.

I really liked this book. The author, J. K. Rowling, writes the most creative books I've ever read.

Introductions - a bit late :)

I guess I should have introduced us properly.  I am Julie, a homeschooling mom.  Karen just turned 10, and is in the 5th grade.  Emma will be 7 in a few days, and is doing 2nd grade work.  Jack is 4, and is learning to read and write.  He will be reviewing books that are read to him.  That's us in a nutshell.

Emma's first review

I just read a very good book . It is called Junie B. Jones Is a Graduation Girl by Barbara Park. Junie B. Jones was a 5 year old girl. She was about to have a birthday. When she woke up she was 6! She has a grandpa and a grandma. She also has a baby brother named Ollie. She was about to graduate from kindergarten. She got a white cap and a gown. She accidentally spilled grape juice on her gown and so she colored on it. How do you think she can graduate with a spotty gown? Read the book and find out! I love this book. I hope you do, too.

The End.

Welcome to our blog!

I assigned book reviews to the girls today during our school time, and they wrote such wonderful papers!  I thought it would be fun for them to write reviews for the world to see.  Let us know if there are any books out there that they should read and review!
